New Crosby Album Featuring Lighthouse Band Line-Up Coming This Fall
August 21, 2018 - David Crosby today announces a new tour this fall. Crosby will be backed on the tour by his “Lighthouse Band” – Becca Stevens, Michael League of Snarky Puppy and Michelle Willis. The five-week, coast-to-coast tour kicks off November 2ndat the Neptune Theatre in Seattle, WA and ends December 8that the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, August 24th.
Crosby, who turned 77 this month, has experienced a late career resurgence unlike almost any other in the history of rock & roll. Last year, Crosby released the acclaimed Sky Trails(BMG), his third solo album in four years, which won raves from a wide variety of outlets including NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Spin, USA Today, The Ringer, New York Magazine, the Associated Press and more.
Stevens, League and Willis backed Crosby on his tour in support of 2016’s acclaimed Lighthousealbum, and BrooklynVegan said of the quartet’s NYC show at Town Hall, “they also clearly help him sound great. Crosby’s voice has aged wonderfully, but you’d have to assume the younger singers’ harmonies are part of what made everything sound so rich last night.” The “Lighthouse Band” also recorded a NPR World Café session during that tour, of which World Café’s David Dye said “I have no doubt that, by the end of the year, we'll count this among the very best sessions of 2017.”
In his eighth decade, Crosby is not only surviving, but also thriving personally and creatively. As Uproxx said in a feature last year, "you don’t find too many artists out there on the other side of 75 still plugging away and making new music. Practically no one of that age is laying down some of the best material of their careers. Then again, David Crosby isn’t like most other artists."
This fall, Crosby will release a new album on BMG, a collaboration with his “Lighthouse Band” of Stevens, League and Willis. This will be Crosby’s fourth solo album in five years. More details to come.
A documentary about Crosby, produced by Cameron Crowe and directed by A.J. Eaton, is also in the works.
